A team of engineers from the United Kingdom, onboard the British Royal Air Force's (RAF) Airbus A400M Atlas, has arrived in India to carry out the repairs on the jet.

The British Royal Navy F-35B Lightning II fighter jet, on June 14, 2025, made an emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Kerala due to low fuel and weather conditions. However, it has to be dismantled to be transported and fit into the C-17 Globemaster. 

The stealth fighter jet made an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on June 14 and is awaiting a team of engineers from Lockheed Martin, the jet's American manufacturer, to resolve a persisting technical snag.

The F-35B Lightning is a “stealth aircraft” operating alongside the Typhoon, according to the UK's Royal Air Force. It is a short take-off and vertical landing aircraft that can operate from aircraft carriers and in austere environments. Meanwhile, to bring forward a recent event, the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday (June 15) informed in a post on X that a British Royal Navy F-35B fighter jet made an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport on Saturday night.
