With effect from 1 August 2025 the allotment/generation of UAN will be done only through the aadhaar based Face Authentication Technology (FAT) in UMANG App. EPFO circular has mentioned that this process is now mandatory for PF subscribers.

EPFO New Rule 2025: The change was announced in an official EPFO circular dated July 30, 2025, which stated that the traditional method of UAN generation through employers will continue only for international workers and citizens of Nepal and Bhutan. 

EPFO has strongly advised all its members, employers, and pensioners to utilise the online services available through the EPFO portal and the UMANG app.

Retirement Fund body Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows PF Subscriber to withdraw their money online. 

As an EPF member, if you want to check your PF balance, you can do so via alternative ways - UMANG app, SMS, and Missed call.
