Pakistan cricket team has delivered some greats of the game in the past. It is also true that some of the funniest moments from press conferences and post-match presentation ceremonies have also come from Pakistani players. Usually, they are funny because of the lack of fluent spoken English. Not to forget, this is no attempt to demean Pakistani players or anyone for not knowing the language. Many great players like Lionel Messi and Rafael Nadal have their issues with the language. However, these are moments that even these Pakistani cricketers will enjoy revisiting again.

A PCB source confirmed that the Anti-Corruption Unit was investigating an incident of Zeeshan Malik being approached to spot-fix during the championship matches which he did not report immediately to the relevant authorities. 

The CAS after holding a seven-hour hearing via video link last December had reserved its judgement on Umar’s appeal. The CAS hearing was chaired by an adjudicator, who is based in England, and he reserved the verdict after listening to the lawyers of both parties.

The period of ineligibility imposed on Umar Akmal will run from, backdated to February 20, 2020, when he was suspended provisionally. In April, Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel had banned Akmal for three years after finding him guilty of breaching PCB Anti-Corruption Code in two separate incidents.

Akmal was found guilty of two charges under the PCB Anti-Corruption Code and on April 27 and was banned from cricket activities till February 19, 2023.

Chairman of the Independent Disciplinary Panel, Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan, submitted the detailed judgement on Akmal case to the PCB.

Umar was recently handed a three-year ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board for not reporting corrupt approaches before the start of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).  

Akmal had said during an interview earlier that he was offered USD 200,000 by fixers to leave two deliveries in one of the matches. He also claimed that he was offered money to skip matches against India.
