Dalit rights groups will hold a mass gathering in Sabarmati area here on Sunday to register their protest over the brutal thrashing of fellow community members in Una taluka, after organisers agreed to hold the event at a changed venue for which police gave their nod.

Forging a joint front to fight atrocities against the community after the public flogging of some Dalit youth, some 30 different Dalit groups from across Gujarat have announced they will not collect dead animals for skinning and also stop doing sanitation work.
