Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the International Cricket Stadium in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi on September 23. The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has spent Rs 121 crores on land acquisition for the construction of the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi. Moreover, the BCCI will spend Rs 330 crores on the stadium's construction.
Shukla, however, will remain on the board of directors at the UPCA alongside 10 others.
Only 3,000 tickets have reportedly been sold so far out of the 13,500 earmarked for fans.
The BCCI and the UPCA are also preparing T-shirts with '500th Test' written on it for the under-privileged children, who will be present in the stadium on all Test match days.
The Supreme Court yesterday accepted major suggestions of the Lodha panel, including a bar on ministers and civil servants and those above 70 from becoming BCCI's members.
The match is scheduled to begin from December 1.
HC dismissed a PIL seeking to restrain Rajiv Shukla from functioning as Secretary of UPCA.
Opposition parties in the city are giving the painting of the enclosure in Green Park a political colour, alleging that the green and red paint used on the stairwalls are the 'colours' of the Samajwadi Party.
