Urea imports during the April-July period last year was 16.65 lakh tonnes, according to an official data.

India's urea imports dipped by 33 percent to 10.03 lakh tonnes in the April-May period of current fiscal compared to the same period last year.

The commerce ministry Tuesday notified the decision to do away with restrictions on imports of industrial and technical grade urea, a move aimed at improving ease of doing business and checking diversion of urea.

Urea imports have increased by 13 percent to 78.43 lakh tonnes (LT) in the April-February period of 2014-15.

Urea imports have decreased by 4 percent to 62.58 lakh tonnes (LT) in the April-December period of 2014-15 financial year.

Urea imports have decreased by 34 percent to 26.95 lakh tonne in the first 6 months of 2014-15, due to carry over stocks from the last fiscal.
