World's Deadliest Submarines: Indian Navy on August 29, 2024 inducted its second Arihant Class submarine - INS Arighaat to its fleet. It can reach speeds of up to 24 knots (44 km/h) when submerged and around 12-15 knots (22-28 km/h) on the surface. The INS Arighaat reportedly shares the same distinctive hump as the INS Arihant and is equipped with four missile launch tubes. Each tube can hold up to three K-15 submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) with a range of 750 km, or one K-4 SLBM with a range of 3,500 km. Both missile types are capable of carrying nuclear warheads, solidifying India’s nuclear triad.

The tanker, MV SAIBABA, was not India-flagged as claimed by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) earlier, but owned by Gabon and registered in India, the navy clarified.

“As our next Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Lisa Franchetti will bring 38 years of dedicated service to our nation as a commissioned officer, including in her current role of Vice Chief of Naval Operations,” Biden said in an announcement on Friday.

INS Talwar on Monday undertook refuelling with US Navy tanker USNS Yukon in the northern Arabian Sea using provisions of a defence agreement. "INS Talwar on mission based deployment in Northern Arabian sea undertook refuelling with US Navy Fleet Tanker USNS Yukon under LEMOA," tweeted the Navy spokesperson. "The evolution apart from highlighting interoperability between Indian Navy and US Navy enables presence for enhancing maritime security," it further tweeted.

The US-India passing exercise off the Andaman and Nicobar coast in Malacca Strait is going to send out a strong message to China. The Indian Navy had recently conducted similar passing exercises with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and French Navy. The USS Nimitz is also the world's largest warship armed with F/A-18F and F/A-18E Super Hornets.

USS Nimitz is named after US World War II Pacific fleet commander Chester W Nimitz and the country's third fleet admiral. The warship has a crew of over 6000 including Navy personnel, the air wing and marines with almost 90 aircraft including fighters. Its air wing includes Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornets, F/A-18E Super Hornets, McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornets

India-US likely to conduct naval exercises off the Andaman coast. Naval exercises on the lines of similar exercise India had conducted with the Japanese Naval forces in June 2020.

The US Navy sent two of its aircraft carriers to the South China Sea as part of one of the largest naval exercises in recent years, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. 

On Saturday, the Indian Navy held a crucial exercise with Japanese Navy in the Indian Ocean region, an area where Chinese naval vessels and submarines are making frequent forays.

With the F-35C Lightning II fighters now in service, the STFI 'TOPGUN' course was restructured and developed to integrate the stealth aircraft's tactics, techniques, and procedures. Although the F-35C tactics instructors at STFI have completed the TOPGUN course previously, Major Derek Heinz and Lieutenant William Goodwin III are the first graduates of the course currently flying the Lightning II.

Even as China continues to indulge in reckless adventurism along its borders with different countries including India, two aircraft carrier strike groups of the United States of America conducted a two-day wargame near China's maritime boundary in the Philippine Sea. The two Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers - USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Nimitz - strike groups commenced dual carrier flight operations in the Philippine Sea on June 21, 2020, and concluded the same a day later on June 22.

Ten long weeks after a massive coronavirus outbreak sidelined one of the Navy's signature warships, the US Theodore Roosevelt has returned to sea and is conducting military operations in the Pacific region.

A P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft of the United States of America Navy was intercepted by two Russian Sukhoi Su-35 fighters above the Mediterranean Sea on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. The two Russian fighters sandwiched the US P-8A aircraft between themselves and came extremely close to the American plane for more than an hour.
