Vande Bharat Sleeper Launch Soon: In a significant development for Indian Railway passengers, the much-anticipated Vande Bharat Sleeper Express has successfully completed its long-distance trial run on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor. This route is set to be further revolutionized with the introduction of India's first bullet train by 2027-2030.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Express Trial, Route: The Indian Railways has been working to modernise its fleet, and the process of inducting the newly introduced Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is underway. Recently, the Indian Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that 200 Vande Bharat Chair Car and Sleeper trains are in the pipeline. Now, the Railways minister has shared a video of the trial run of Vande Bharat Sleeper Express while saying that the train will uplift the travel experience of long-distance commuters. The three days of trials of Vande Bharat Slepper concluded on 2nd January, in which a sleeper train in its loaded condition touched the peak speed.
The timeline of the rollout of the train is subject to the successful completion of the trials. As of 02nd December 2024, 136 Vande Bharat train services are operational on the Broad Gauge electrified network of Indian Railways for short and medium-distance journeys across the country.

Meanwhile, Alstom supplied numerous new metro coaches to states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, supporting the expansion of urban transit networks. On the other hand, BEML built the world-class Vande Bharat sleeper coaches. The rapid development of track-based mobility solutions highlights a promising trajectory for India’s growth.
New Delhi to Srinagar Vande Bharat Sleeper Express: The Indian Railways is modernising its fleet by introducing state-of-the-art trains with better amenities. This includes Vande Bharat Express, Humsafar and Tejas. Now, the state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Sleeper is all set to make its debut on several routes. The train was unveiled by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on September 1 this year. "The much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper trainset is now set to run on Indian Railways tracks, providing our people with a world-class travel experience and best-in-class amenities. The dedication and expertise of BEML's leadership and engineers have made this remarkable achievement possible," said Vaishnaw indicating that passengers will soon enjoy the ride on this luxurious train.
Indian Railways' Diwali, Chhath Puja Gift: Festivities are here and after Dussehra, people are looking to celebrate Diwali, Chhath, Bhai Dooj and Govardhan puja with their families. It's known that during the Diwali and Chhath puja, the demand for train tickets between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal skyrockets regularly. To cater to the festive rush, the Indian Railways has introduced a new Special Vande Bharat Express between Delhi and Patna via Uttar Pradesh. The train will run from October 30 onwards and the ticket booking has already commenced.
The new Vande Bharat Sleeper train is set to reduce the Delhi-Mumbai journey to 12 hours, compared to the 15-20 hours taken by most express trains. This luxurious train will feature 16 coaches and 823 seats, offering enhanced comfort and efficiency.
Delhi to Patna, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, and Hajipur are some of the Indian Railways' train routes on which finding a confirmed seat often proves to be a challenge due to the heavy rush throughout the year. The waitlisted passengers are forced to travel without a confirmed berth and undertake a cumbersome journey. However, the Indian Railways has now likely planned to run the newly unveiled Vande Bharat Sleeper train between Delhi and Patna. This means, the commuters will now have an option for one extra train with better amenities. Since it's fully AC train, only passengers with confirmed ticket will be allowed to board the train.
The Indian Railways is all set to roll out the first rake of Vande Bharat Sleeper trains for trials in the next few days. Manufactured by the BEML, the train marks a departure from the conventional rake designs besides incorporating several new features. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train will come into public service by December this year and will likely connect Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai among some of the first routes.
The Vande Bharat sleeper train prototype features 16 coaches: 11 AC 3-tier coaches with 611 berths, 4 AC 2-tier coaches with 188 berths, and 1 AC First Class coach with 24 berths.
Bareilly-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper: The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is set to revolutionize travel between key cities in Uttar Pradesh—Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, and Jhansi—and Mumbai. According to railway board officials, while the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express will be slightly slower than its chair car counterpart, it will still offer impressive speed and comfort. This train will feature 16 coaches, including 11 Third AC, four Second AC, and one First AC coach, with a maximum speed of 130 km per hour.
The Railway Board Secretary has revealed that the Vande Bharat Metro and Sleeper versions will soon be added to the fleet, as BEML is developing rakes at ICF Chennai.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Coach will be rolled out by the Integral Coach Factory in March 2024 and the Vande Metro will be rolled out by January 2023.
Reports claim that the decision to change the colour scheme of the Vande Bharat Express has been taken by the Indian Railways as the traditional white and blue paint is difficult to maintain.
Vande Bharat Express is the indigenous semi-high speed trains, which are being prepped to replace Shatabdis, Rajdhanis and local trains across India.
