Amid an unprecedented surge in Covid-19 cases in China, the Centre on Wednesday advised people to use masks in crowded places and take precautionary doses to protect themselves from getting infected.
Centre's Covid-19 advisory: VK Paul, NITI Aayog member (Health) who heads the national task force on Covid, has said there is no need to panic, and that adequate tests are being conducted. He advised people to wear masks in crowded areas.
Dr VK Paul, Member-Health, Niti Aayog, said, "Overall COVID-19 situation is very optimistic. However, some states including Kerala, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh are still reporting a large number of cases. We cannot lower our guard."

Even though infections are coming down and the second wave is subsiding, it will not be fair now to say that the worst is over, said Paul.
"Now, of course, there is no dearth, no inadequacy of vaccine supply. They are as of today 10 crore doses of vaccines with the state governments," he said.
Niti Aayog Member VK Paul has spoken on WHO nod for Bharat Biotech's Covaxin.
He said that a positive decision could be coming in before Sept-end.
"We know of positive developments - data sharing, data evaluation going on through multiple reviews," Paul informed.
Paul said "unlock activity could lead to an increase in cases, though at present the positivity rate of cases is at its lowest point.”
“The next three months are important; we need to be watchful," Paul said.
Delhi which was under lockdown since April started the unlock process in a phased manner on May 31.
