VVIP chopper bribery scam News
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday said that her party is not at all worried about the allegations made by the ruling BJP pertaining to the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal case, which has stormed the proceedings in Parliament these days.
The Congress has sought to corner the Narendra Modi government for allowing the tainted AgustaWestland to take part in the `Make in India` initiative.
Parrikar's remarks came as the Congress-BJP political battle over the scam heated up inside as well as outside Parliament.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said the Prime Minister has been protecting the UK-based subsidiary of Italian conglomerate Finmeccanica.
AgustaWestland, a UK-based subsidiary of Italian conglomerate Finmeccanica, has yet to return some 106 million euros to India, the report said.
Amid a political storm over VVIP chopper bribery case, BJP on Thursday raised the AgustaWestland issue in Lok Sabha, alleging that the Italian company spent Rs 50 crore to manage media in its bid to clinch the deal with India.
