According to a recent IBM study conducted by Ponemon Institute, while the average cost of a data breach in 2017 saw a 10 per cent decline globally when compared to 2016, for the Indian enterprises, it grew 12.3 per cent from Rs 97.3 million in 2016 to Rs 110 million in 2017.

The first half of the year also saw rise in IoT attacks and showed that industrial robots can be compromised, which could amount to massive financial damage and productivity loss, the report added.

India`s growing economy and digital push have caught the attention of hackers and an increasing wave of cyber attacks could soon badly impact the country, experts from Russian cyber security firm Kaspersky Lab have warned.

As the world was still recovering from the "WannaCrypt" ransomware attack, a malware called "Judy" hit over 36.5 million Android-based phones, making its way through Google Play Store.

WannaCry is without doubt the biggest ransomware attack the world has ever seen and has so far affected over 100-150 countries, including India. 

Companies around the globe are preparing for an imminent cyber attack as the offices re-open on Monday, media reports said.
