Widows of gallantry award winners will continue to get allowances even after remarriage

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday announced special grants-in-aid of Rs 50 lakh each to war widows or other legal heirs of defence force personnel who died in the wars with China and Pakistan in 1962, 1965 and 1971.
The One Rank-One Pension scheme, brought in last November to benefit more than 2.5 million ex- servicemen and war widows, today received ex-post facto approval from the Union Cabinet.
The annual recurring financial implication of One Rank One Pension at the current rate will be approximately Rs 7,500 crore, the government said on Wednesday as it issued detailed instructions for the scheme.
