Matteo Berrettini on Friday defeated Hubert Hurkacz to book Wimbledon final berth. Seventh seed Berrettini beat Poland's Hurkacz 6-3 6-0 6-7(3) 6-4.

Novak Djokovic on Friday beat Denis Shapovalov to reach his seventh Wimbledon final. Defending champion entered his third successive Wimbledon final with a 7-6(3) 7-5 7-5 victory.

History favours the Australian who has five wins to Pliskova’s two in their previous meetings. However, the Czech was calm yet confident that she could spring a surprise and finally show that her potential has not gone unfulfilled.

In the end it turned out to be a Centre Court blockbuster that featured gripping action, a mid-match twist and late-night drama that was played out in tennis’s most famous arena.
