India climbed up to the third spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings after registering a thrilling six-run win over England in the fifth Test at the Oval in London on Monday. New Zealand defeated India by eight wickets in the first Test in Bengaluru, marking their first Test victory in India in 36 years. India remains atop the World Test Championship 2025.

With this win, Sri Lanka has ascended to the fifth spot in the WTC points table. They now hold a Percentage of Points (PCT) of 42.85, a notable improvement given their previous struggles.

With this win, India surged to the number one position, boasting a PCT of 64.58%.

South Africa, initially soaring high after a compelling win in Centurion, experienced a setback in Cape Town, causing their points percentage to drop to 50%.

The defeat against South Africa has affected India's standing, dropping them to the fifth position.

Pakistan lost the first Test vs Australia by a huge margin of 360 runs which has dented their winning percentage and they have slipped to second in the updated standing of WTC.

India has yet to confirm their place in the WTC final for the second time in a row. To secure their spot, they must win at least two of the remaining three matches in the Border-Gavaskar series.

Courtesy the loss, Pakistan have slipped to number 3 in the ICC World Test Championship table. After winning the first Test vs Lankans, Pakistan jumped to third in the table and the win in 2nd Test could have taken them to number 2 spot.

Since India fell short by two overs after time allowances were taken into consideration, they were docked two WTC points.

The Australian team are leading the WTC 2023 points table while South Africa are ranked second. Pakistan and West Indies are in fourth and fifth spot respectively followed by Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand and Bangladesh.
