Indian YouTubers are contributing an estimated Rs 6,800 crore to country's GDP annually. Moreover, it is creating 7 lakh jobs in the process: Neal Mohan, YouTube Chief Product Officer. He said that the onus lies on key stakeholders, governments and YouTube to ensure that the platform is not used to spread misinformation.

The video streaming service began as an ad-supported platform, but it now has at least eight other revenue streams. YouTube claims to be developing more monetisation alternatives for creators in addition to the traditional advertising-based income sharing model. The way people consume material on the site has changed as well, particularly in the last year.
