Earlier this week, Beijing had opposed the joint India-US military exercise "Yudh Abhyas", claiming that it violates border agreements signed by China and India in 1993 and 1996.
MEA spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi said, "These exercises going on with the US in Auli has nothing to do with the 1993 and 1996 agreements. The Chinese side needs to reflect and think about its own breach of these agreements."
China's response came amid the ongoing 18th edition of the Indo-US joint training exercise "YUDH ABHYAS 22".
As part of the ongoing Indo-US defence cooperation, a joint military training Exercise – Yudh Abhyas 2018 – will be held from September 16 to 29 at Chaubattia in Uttarakhand's Almora district.
Over 200 Indian soldiers from the Gorkha Rifles will take part in the military exercise.
According to The Times of India (TOI), both sides are “planning to go in for a major upgrade of their bilateral combat exercises”.
Indian and US soldiers presented a ceremonial guard of honour to the two senior most officers of the US and Indian armies.
Under the aegis of Headquarter Central Command, the venture is a series of one of the longest running joint military training between India and US.
The Indian soldiers engaged with their American counterparts in the annual joint exercise have impressed the US military leadership with their high professional skills especially the concept of "maximum restraint and minimum force".
