Zika vaccines News
Rapid and promising progress has been made towards Zika vaccines, but they have been made either from an inactivated version of the Zika virus or subunits of the virus.
The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday said that about 40 potential vaccines for the Zika virus are being tested, but none are likely to be available for women of childbearing age before 2020.
The researchers found that all the three experimental vaccines, when tested on rhesus monkeys gave complete protection against infection with the virus.
These two vaccine candidates both provided complete protection against Zika virus challenge in mice, said study author Dan Barouch.
