A Malaysian badminton player hit with a career-ending 20-year ban rejected allegations of match-fixing on Friday and said he will appeal, claiming he was involved in a spot of casino gambling but not corruption.
Malaysian shuttlers Tan Chun Seang and Zulfadli Zulkiffli have received 15- and 20-year bans after being found guilty of offences relating to “betting, wagering and irregular match results”, Badminton World Federation (BWF) said on Wednesday.
The pair, named in local reports as ex-world junior champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli and Tan Chun Seang, was allegedly involved in a case of fixing about two years ago.
