The much-debated 2011 order that Supreme Court alone would hear pleas against the orders of the special CBI court in the 2G spectrum scam case was modified Tuesday, with the apex court permitting the accused and CBI to move the Delhi High Court against the final verdict, which is in the offing in the case.

CBI Friday told a special court that being the then Telecom minister, A Raja had "actual dominion" over policy matters pertaining to allocation of 2G spectrum and he had accepted it during his defence in the case.

Taking note of CBI's move to repeatedly seek permission to file documents in 2G spectrum scam case, the special court Wednesday cautioned the agency not to follow this practice "endlessly" saying the accused were not "quarry to be pursued, caught and killed".

A special 2G court on Friday framed charges against former telecom minister A Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi and others in the scam related to money laundering.

A Special court on Wednesday summoned former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran along with his brother, two others and four companies including SUN Direct TV as accused in the Aircel-Maxis deal case.

The court is also scheduled to hear the final arguments in the case from November 10.

The Supreme Court Monday agreed to hear NGO CPIL`s plea seeking recall of its order for disclosure of the identity of the whistleblower who gave information on the CBI director meeting accused in 2G and other cases at his official residence and allegedly interfering in the probe and prosecution of 2G cases.

The Supreme Court Monday directed advocate Prashant Bhushan, who has levelled allegations against CBI Director Ranjit Sinha of protecting accused in the 2G case, to reveal the name of the whistleblower from whom he got CBI documents and guest list of the top cop's residence.

Special CBI Judge O P Saini made it clear that CBI cannot keep "withholding" documents and keep approaching the court seeking permission to file fresh material on record.

All the accused, including Raja, are out on bail.

Special CBI Judge O P Saini observed that if the situation goes on like this, the cases would be "endless" and nobody would have "faith" in judiciary.

CBI has begun an internal inquiry to probe leakage of classified documents in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation case as the agency finalised its counter arguments in the Supreme Court on Tuesday over charges levelled by an NGO that the agency's Director Ranjit Sinha was delaying trial in the scam.

The CBI has dismissed the charge that it was stalling trial in the 2G case as alleged by an NGO and maintained that it has done everything to ensure smooth progress in the hearing.

CBI has moved a special court here seeking its permission to summon some persons as prosecution witnesses, including Enforcement Directorate (ED) Deputy Director Rajeshwar Singh, in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation case.
