Operatives of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) are planning to avenge the death of its senior commander Abu Qasim by carrying out a series of bombings or attacks on "prominent Indian personalities, public and tourist places in eight Indian cities" on or around the New Year, according to intelligence officials.
The LeT appointed Abu Dujana as its top commander to look after its operations in J&K after Abu Qasim's killing.
Abu Qasim, whose real name is Abdul Rehman was a resident of Bahawalpur district of Pakistani Punjab province.
LeT commander Abu Qasim was active in the state for the last six years and was the most wanted militant commander in Jammu and Kashmir.
LeT militant Abu Qasim, the mastermind of the Udhampur attack on a BSF bus on August 5, has been killed in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir.
