The Kerala police constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the Air India Express crash at nearby Karipur international airport on 18 passengers, including the pilot and co-pilot.
The 30-member team will be headed by Malappuram Additional Superintendent of Police G Sabu, a government release said.
DGCA Director Arun Kumar on Sunday said that the black box of Air India Express flight that crash-landed at Kerala's Kozhikode Airport on August 7 has been brought to Delhi and will be examined at DGCA lab.
The DGCA chief said that after Mangalore air crash, suggestions were given by a committee regarding table-top runways and it was suggested by the committee to improve the pavement strength of Kozhikode airport.
He added that the committee has also suggested to increase the runway and safety area of the airport.
Reacting to the incident, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted: "A terrible tragedy .. Air India crash in Kerala, Kozhikode airport, plane skids off the runway on landing in heavy rain .. Prayers."
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan visited the injured who are admitted to hospitals in Malappuram and Kozhikode.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan to told media that 18 people have died in the crash which includes 14 adults and 4 children.
