It's a new year gift for flyers as airlines in the country are raining discounts for domestic routes with airfares starting as low as just Rs 789.

Airlines offer these kinds of special fares not just to stimulate demand, but also to increase load factors during the lean seasons.

As monsoon kicks in slowly in India, it's raining discounts and offers in airfares, with a one-way domestic ticket costing as low as Rs 444 only.

The special offer is available on flights across the GoAir network for a travel period between January 1 and March 31, the airline said.

The discount of up to 25 percent is being offered for return travel on Qatar Airways in all classes for travel originating from India, it said.

A day after budget carrier SpiceJet announced fares starting at Rs 499 across its domestic network, Jet Airways too jumped on the bandwagon rolling out Rs 500 fares for the economy class on its domestic flights for a limited period on Tuesday.

Rolling out yet another limited- period special fares offer, no-frill carrier SpiceJet Monday announced discounts on one-way all-inclusive fares starting as low as Rs 1,888.

Jet Airways and its strategic investment partner Etihad have offered discounts ranging from 20 percent to 68 percent to fliers, on regular fares over the combined network of the two airlines.
