As Israel and Iran were engaged in a 12-day-long conflict, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has stated that his country wanted to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei during the recent conflict. This claim counters the reports of a US veto on assassination plans.

Netanyahu believes that taking out the Ayatollah would end the conflict, not escalate it. He emphasized that Israel's actions are aimed at preventing Iran's aggression and standing up to the forces of evil.

Following the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Iran's Supreme Leader said that the "Zionist criminals" should know that they are too small to cause damage to Hezbollah.  

The Iranian leader, addressing a gathering of clerics in Tehran on Monday, talked about what he described as "suffering" of Muslims in Gaza, Myanmar and India. 

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that Iran's remark was not based on accurate information.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday said that Iran is likely to attack other areas than Gaza and they are prepared for different scenarious.

In his first remarks addressing 22-year-old Mahsa Amini's death after her arrest by morality police over "inappropriate attire", Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Amini's death "deeply broke my heart" and called it a "bitter incident" provoked by Iran's enemies.

Demonstrators in the town of Aligudarz in Lorestan province marched to voice support for protesters in neighbouring Khuzestan late on Thursday on the eighth night of protests. Videos showed protesters chanting slogans against Khamenei.

Iran will strike a reciprocal blow against the US for the killing of top Revolutionary Guards commander Qassem Soleimani, said Iran`s Supreme Leader. On January 3, a US drone strike in Iraq killed Soleimani, leader of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force. Washington had accused Soleimani of masterminding attacks by Iran-aligned militias on U.S. forces in the region.

Hardliners are set to tighten control of Iran this week in a parliamentary election stacked in their favour, as the leadership closes ranks in a deepening confrontation with Washington.

Iran`s supreme leader upped the ante in a volatile stand-off with the United States on Tuesday, warning Tehran would continue removing restraints on its nuclear programme and retaliate for the seizure of an Iranian oil tanker.

Trump tweeted just days the United States came within minutes of bombing Iranian targets. "In some areas, overwhelming will mean obliteration," the US president tweeted.

The Donald Trump administration imposed fresh sanctions against top Iranian leaders and claims they would find it even more difficult to reach financial resources now. Iran, however, accused the US of increasing hostilities.
