Bihar Assembly Election Result News

Voting for seven assembly seats across six states has started. Many of these seats are a direct contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party and regional parties.

Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar was administered the oath of office by Governor Fagu Chauhan which was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J P Nadda among others.

JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar tendered his resignation from the post of the chief minister after meeting Governor Phagu Chauhan. The governor accepted the resignation and asked him to hold office till the formation of a new government.

A day after the NDA won in Bihar with a simple majority, CM Nitish Kumar "saluted" the people for giving a majority to the NDA in Bihar. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support.

PM Narendra Modi slammed dynastic parties saying they are the biggest threat to the democracy. Addressing party workers after the BJP's victory in Bihar election, he also rued that even a national party had fallen prey to it.

Tej Pratap Yadav claimed victory from Bihar's Hasanpur Assembly. He won by 21,139 votes, as per the Election Commission (EC).
