The film, starring Frances McDormand, David Strathairn, Linda May and Swankie, is based on the 2017 non-fiction book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder. The director Chloé Zhao won the Best Director award for her film and became the first Asian woman to win the award in 78-years of the Golden Globes’ history.
