The number of injured people during the Dahi Handi celebrations on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami has risen to 238.

On the auspicious occasion, Jackky Bhagnani took to social media to share a gem from his musical vault, a Dahi Handi song titled 'Govinda' from the chartbuster track 'Rangrez.' 

Dahi Handi is set to be celebrated on Thursday, September 7 The term “Dahi Handi" literally translates to “curd pot" and symbolizes the pots of butter that Lord Krishna sought to reach Gujarat and Maharashtra are the states where people celebrate the day the most

Uddhav Thackeray on Monday spoke to organisers of the upcoming Dahi Handi festival. Maha CM told them to set an example by setting aside celebration of festivals for some time to banish COVID completely. Uddhav said the health of citizens should be given priority during a pandemic.

Several organisers roped in celebrities to pull the crowd in their dahi handi events.

The 'dahi-handi' festivities started in a big way with govind groups attired in colourful attires.

At least 117 'Govindas' were injured while forming human pyramids as part of the Dahi Handi festival in Mumbai.

The court was on Monday hearing two petitions filed by city residents, raising concerns over the participation of minors in the festival and lack of safety measures, due to which several untoward incidents occur.  

The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to lift restrictions on 20 feet high human pyramids during the Dahi Handi festival on Thursday.

The High Court had on August 11, 2014, ordered that the height of human pyramids should not exceed 20 feet.
