According to Maruti Suzuki Chief Executive Kenichi Ayukawa, the government is sensitive to the implications of the auto sector slowdown and is taking steps to reverse it.

According to the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of India analysis, the export market for auto manufacturers, along with their component vendors, has been depressed, in-sync with other key engineering export items from the country.

The automobile industry value chain includes parts manufacturers, OEMs, dealerships and workshops. The entire value chain is one of the largest employers in the country and has a substantial contribution to the country's GDP.

Automobile major Maruti Suzuki India's overall sales including exports for July declined 33.5 per cent to 109,264 units from 164,369 units' off-take recorded during the corresponding period of the last financial year.

Leading automakers Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), Hyundai Motor India reported record annual sales for the fiscal ended March 31, driven by new models and robust demand for existing products.

The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Wednesday reported a 10.9 percent increase in total sales at 1,30,280 units in February as against 1,17,451 in the year-ago month.

 Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland today reported a 31 percent increase in total sales at 16,702 units in March 2016, as against 12,754 units in the same month last year.

Farm equipment maker Escorts today reported a 27.9 percent increase in its total tractor sales in March at 5,403 units.

Country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Friday posted a 15.9 percent rise in total sales in March at 1,29,345 units as against 1,11,555 units in the same month last year.

The company had sold 49,740 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement.

Engineering and farm equipment major Escorts Tuesday reported 9.3 percent increase in its tractor sales in November at 4,706 units.

Maruti said its domestic sales increased by 10.6 percent during the month to 1,10,599.

Bajaj Auto on Tuesday reported a 2 percent decline in total sales in May at 3,45,438 units against 3,51,436 units in the same month last year.

Two-wheeler market leader Hero MotoCorp on Thursday reported a 14.05 percent decline in net profit at Rs 476.53 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2015 due to a one-time impairment payment.

Hero Motocorp Ltd , India`s largest maker of motorcycles and scooters, said on Wednesday its sales for the year ended March 31 rose 6.2 percent from a year earlier to 6.63 million units.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Wednesday reported a marginal increase in total sales at 51,471 units in September 2014.
