In the first round of the men’s tournament, wildcard Andy Murray came out on top over Dominic Thiem, who has struggled since his comeback from a wrist injury which prevented him from defending his US Open crown last year.

Dominic Thiem has pulled out of Wimbledon due to a right wrist injury that will keep him out of action for several weeks, the 27-year-old said on Thursday.

Medvedev`s peers Alexander Zverev, 23, and Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, won the last two titles here but neither have gone on to claim a Grand Slam. The 27-year-old Russian's triumph came a year after a chastening three defeats on his debut.

In a semi-final clash of the ATP World Tour Finals, Austria's Dominic Thiem defeated Serbian World no.1 Novak Djokovic 7-5, 6-7(10), 7-6(5). In the match, Djokovic saved four match points in the second set but it ultimately went in vain as Thiem won the deciding set. Dominic Thiem, thus, reached his second consecutive title match of the prestigious tournament.

World no. 3 Dominic Thiem defeated Rafael Nadal 7-6(7), 7-6(4) in a grueling encounter. Thiem is right on the verge of semi-final contention after winning both his matches so far. Nadal is in danger of bowing out if he loses his final group game against Tsitsipas.
