The passengers travelling by second AC class will now pay Rs 20 for a cup of tea while those in the sleeper class will have to pay Rs 15. The tea rate was earlier Rs 10 in both the classes. For snacks, you will now have to shell out Rs 105 instead of Rs 75; lunch and dinner cost Rs 185 (Rs 125 earlier) and evening tea will now cost Rs 90.
The revised flexi-fares for premier trains will be applicable from March 15, 2019 -- and advance bookings have commenced as the changes required in the software have been executed.
The new fare scheme may be announced ahead of the general elections.
This will come as a relief to passengers who often have to pay vendors to get water on long-train journeys.
