Tesla Debuts In India: Electric cars and buses will be exempt from tolls on major expressways, including the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg, and the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (Atal Setu). 

The government on Monday notified guidelines for its forward-looking scheme to enable fresh investments from global manufacturers in the electric cars segment and promote India as a global manufacturing hub for e-vehicles. 

Representatives of all the major automobile manufacturers of India including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Kia, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, and Renault were present in the meeting.

To bridge this prevailing gap between EV and ICE vehicles, a multidimensional approach by the government is crucial.

The study by Climate Trends, 'Analysis Of State Electric Vehicle Policies And Their Impact', assesses the comprehensiveness of EV policies of 26 states and Union territories based on 21 parameters.

Tamil Nadu has transformed into a leading EV manufacturing hub with new entrants, including Ather and Ola Electric having set up their production facilities.  

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Nitin Gadkari said battery swapping policy aims to create a framework for greater interoperability while safeguarding the innovation potential for the EV battery ecosystem.
