The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Wednesday announced a list of 24 "self-styled, unrecognised institutions" in the country, terming them as "fake".
The maximum of these universities is operating from Uttar Pradesh followed by Delhi.
The majority of eight of these universities are from Uttar Pradesh

The AICTE and UGC maintain a list of fake universities and unapproved institutions on their websites, Union HRD Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said on Thursday.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a list of 24 fake universities across India. The Commission has said that these 24 self-styled, unrecognised institutions functioning in contravention of the UGC Act have been declared as fake and are not entitled to confer any degrees.
