West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has invited GJM leaders Binoy Tamang and Anit Thapa to hold talks in Kolkata. The crucial meeting will be held on Tuesday (November 3) at 3 PM in Nabanna. During the meeting, CM Mamata and GJM leaders will hold discussions over the present prevailing situation in hills.

The Supreme Court disposed of the petitions against two Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leaders Roshan Giri and Bimal Gurung, seeking protection to participate in campaigning for the Lok Sabha election 2019 on Wednesday. The top court directed them to approach the Calcutta High Court for interim relief within four days. 

The GJM has been running a campaign for the establishment of a separate state (Gorkhaland) outside of West Bengal.

The Supreme Court restrained Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government to arrest suspended Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) chief Bimal Gurung in connection with Gorkhaland protests case.

The police said the fire broke out after midnight and was brought under control around 3 a.m. on Sunday.

The West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) has summoned Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) chief Bimal Gurung for "repeated gross violation of child rights", the statutory body`s chief said on Saturday.

Union home secretary Rajiv Gauba has been directed to hold an official level meeting within a fortnight to discuss all related issues. 

West Bengal Tourism Minister Goutam Deb on Monday said: "We are hopeful of resolving the deadlock. People of Darjeeling do not want strike."

The GJM chief reiterated that he would not compromise on the demand for Gorkhaland.

The GJM has expressed its willingness to attend the August 29 talks to resolve the Darjeeling stalemate.

The indefinite shutdown in Darjeeling hills entered its 62nd day on Tuesday.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday briefed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the prevailing situation in Darjeeling, where normal life has been hit due to an ongoing strike demanding a separate Gorkhaland state.

The Darjeeling hills have been witnessing an indefinite strike called by the GJM, demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland, since June 12.

The CBI on Monday sought an arrest warrant against the GJM president Bimal Gurung, his wife Asha and 20 others in connection with the Madan Tamang murder case.

The situation in Mirik continued to be tense following the death of a Gorkhaland activist allegedly in police firing.

Home Ministry sources in Delhi said that West Bengal sent back four companies of the Border Security Force (BSF) and four companies of additional paramilitary forces.

The chief minister claimed that certain decisions of the Centre such as demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) were nothing but "big corruptions".  

As the indefinite shutdown in the Darjeeling hills entered it 22nd day, all eyes are set on the all-party meeting convened by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in Kalimpong area on Thursday.
