"The president absolutely wants to address the delays in the green card processing system as well," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters. 

A Green Card, known officially as a Permanent Resident Card, is a document issued to immigrants as evidence that the bearer has been granted the privilege of residing permanently in the US.

Indian applicants also received the most number of Request for Evidence for applications than the people from other countries, says a report from National Foundation for American Policy.

As of April 20, 2018, there were 632,219 Indian immigrants and their spouses and minor children waiting for green cards also known as legal permanent residency cards.

India is followed by a distant second China, which currently has 67,031 Chinese waiting for the Green Card. Thereafter none of the other countries have more than 10,000 people waiting for Green Card.
