The investigations have revealed that the accused persons in the age group of 20-30 years, despite being infected with HIV, established physical relations with sex workers without their knowledge. During the probe, the accused revealed they had visited around 90 sex workers.

In a presentation at Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) in the US on Tuesday, the researchers reported that the woman has had no detectable levels of HIV for 14 months despite cessation of antiretroviral therapy (ART).

In the statement, published in the Circulation journal, the researchers indicated that the heart disease risk among HIV patients occurs due to interactions between traditional risk factors, such as diet, lifestyle and tobacco use; and HIV-specific risk factors, such as a chronically activated immune system and inflammation characteristic of chronic HIV.

India, which is described as the pharmacy to the world has a special licence the UN-backed Medicines Patent Pool to manufacture anti-AIDS medicine TenofovirAlafenamide (TAF) for 112 developing countries.

The Health Ministry launched a 'test and treat policy for HIV' under which as soon as a person tests positive for the disease, he will be provided with antiretroviral therapy (ART) irrespective of his CD count or clinical stage.
