Paring most of their initial gains, stocks of companies with interest in insurance sector today ended mixed in an overall weak stock market amid profit-booking after Parliament approved the Insurance Bill.

Shares of companies in insurance sector gained as much as 4 percent Wednesday after the government approved the Ordinance route to implement insurance reforms.

Stocks of insurance companies surged up to 8.4 percent Wednesday on hopes of hike in foreign direct investment (FDI) limit in the sector.
