Uzbekistan today said the suspect in last week's deadly Stockholm truck attack had ties to Islamic State jihadists and the West had been warned about him, Russian media reported.

The Amaq news agency released a video saying that "one of those who carried out the attack on the military base in Nizhny Novgorod", a city around 400 kilometres east of Moscow, belonged to IS.

With pressure building on the 10th day of the Mosul assault, Western defence chiefs were already looking ahead to the next target -- IS`s other major stronghold of Raqa in Syria.
