This was his second attempt to visit the newly established union territory after the scrapping of Article 370. Earlier on August 8, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha was detained at the Srinagar Airport.

He also highlighted the importance of creating an environment free from terror and violence and eschewing cross-border terrorism without exception.

Indian Envoy to the US, Harsh Shringla in an interview to a private US channel said, "President Trump has made it very clear that his offer to mediate on Jammu and Kashmir is dependent on both India and Pakistan accepting it. Since India has not accepted the offer of mediation, he has made it clear that this is not on the table anymore."

Taking to social media platform Twitter, the MHA Spokesperson assured that the situation in the newly formed Union Territory (UT) is gradually returning to normalcy.

The newly appointed Pakistan High Commissioner will also not come to India. The move came after the Narendra Modi government scrapped Article 370, Article 35A and bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs).
