The cold wave intensified in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday with Keylong freezing at minus 8.5 degrees Celsius.

Headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti district, was the coldest with a minimum temperature of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius.

The baby was buried alive when a landslide destroyed a house in Chirgaon area of Rohru in Shimla district today while Kangra, Dharamshala and Palampur received heavy rainfall leading to flooding of roads and houses.  

The hills of Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing long sunny days but chilly nights, a weather official said here on Saturday. There are no chances of rain in most of the prominent tourist destinations for almost a week.

Mild rains occurred at isolated places as monsoon remained weak in Himachal Pradesh, Met department officials said today. Monsoon has started receding from some parts and has weakened rest of Himachal, officials said.

Shimla was on Tuesday colder than Keylong, which is located in Lahaul Valley at elevations ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 feet above sea level.

Light rains occurred at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh since yesterday as minimum temperatures dropped by a few notches in higher hills and tribal areas of the state.

Temperature dropped across Himachal Pradesh on Saturday with high-altitude areas getting more spells of snow while other parts have been experiencing rains, the weather office said.

The cold wave continued to grip the hills of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday despite prevailing dry weather, with Keylong region recording the lowest temperature in the state.

Winter continued to tighten its grip on the higher reaches on Wednesday and Keylong became the coldest place in Himachal Pradesh, the temperature slipping well below the freezing point, the Met office said.
