KL Rahul calls the Shubman Gill–Zak Crawley incident at Lord’s "part of the game," downplaying the heated exchange that went viral during the 3rd Test.   

Rahul, who was overwhelmed with feelings of anxiousness, nervousness, and excitement, was happy to join the Capitals and is now looking ahead to the new season.

In five matches and four innings, KL scored 140 runs at an average of 140.00 and a strike rate of 97.90, with the best score of 42*.

Rahul, who initially batted at No. 6 in the first two games, didn't look comfortable and fared far better at the familiar No. 5 position with a useful 40 off 29 balls in India's one-sided 142-run victory in the third ODI here.

Rahul is expected to train with the Karnataka squad, which will be led by opener Mayank Agarwal from Tuesday. Karnataka has also received a boost in their pace bowling department with Vidwath Kaverappa making a return after missing a large part of the ongoing domestic season due to an injury.

It was back in February 2019 when KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty met through a mutual friend. They immediately hit it off and started dating.

During the first day of the IPL 2025 mega auction, the franchise signed nine players with the likes of Mitchell Starc, Harry Brook, and KL Rahul. They also used the Right To Match (RTM) card to acquire Jake Fraser-McGurk at Rs 9 crore.

But then, the Karnataka-based batter failed to make an impact with the bat, scoring only 4 and 10 in both the innings.

Rahul had left the field for medical attention on Friday after sustaining a blow on his elbow by pacer Prasidh Krishna while batting in an intra-squad practice match at the WACA ground. 

Since 2022, he has scored 514 runs in Tests from 12 matches (21 innings) at an average of 25.7, having registered three half-centuries and a century.

Rahul said he played freely in the 2018 season, which turned out to be his best T20 year.

KL Rahul got married to Athiya Shetty back on January 23, 2023, in Khandala. On Friday, Rahul and Athiya announced pregnancy. .

During India’s second innings, Rahul was looking to dance down the track in the 85th but then he was snared by Ajaz Patel's delivery.

The Indian team selected three wicketkeeper-batters in the form of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul making comebacks to the Test set-up while Dhruv Jurel retained his place.

KL Rahul batted brilliantly in the first innings of the first Test vs South Africa in Centurion. He remained unbeaten after Day 1 on 70 and looks all set to hit a Test hundred on South Africa soil. Rahul has had a good 2023 on the pitch, scoring tons of runs for India while also becoming India's wicketkeeper across formats. As Rahul gears up for the series against South Africa, there's a growing indication that he will not only wield the gloves in ODIs but also take on wicketkeeping responsibilities in the Test matches.
