The Maharashtra State Socially and Educationally Backward Bill 2024 received unanimous support in the assembly. Maratha Quota activist Manoj Jarange has refused to end the strike arguing that it did not meet his community's expectation.
The bill, which was tabled by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and supported by all parties, will now be sent to the Legislative Council for approval before becoming a law.
Patil praised Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for his efforts and said he would end his fast with juice offered by him on Saturday.
Jarange Patil, who was in Navi Mumbai, also demanded the Maharashtra government to withdraw all the cases filed by the police against the Maratha Reservation protestors.
