Sensex, Nifty open on positive note amid the festival season boost. Sensex climbs to 626 points to 59,036. NSE Nifty surges to 17,493 by climbing 181 points.

The BSE gauge was trading 220.21 points or 0.37 per cent lower at 58,567.81 in early trade. Nifty fell 72.85 points or 0.41 per cent to 17,487.35. On the other hand, Tata Steel, PowerGrid, Sun Pharma, ITC and NTPC were among the gainers.

The 30-scrip BSE Sensex was up by 662.6 points or 1.14 per cent at 58,676.77 at 9.24 am. Similarly, 50-scrip NSE Nifty was trading at 17,514.85 at 9.24 am, up by 175.00 points or 1.01 per cent.

The 30-share BSE index was trading 55.46 points or 0.10 per cent higher at 52,935.46 in initial deals. The broader NSE Nifty advanced 24.05 points or 0.15 per cent to 15,858.40. Sun Pharma, TCS, HUL, and Reliance Industries were among the laggards.

The 30-share BSE index ended 166.07 points or 0.32 per cent higher at 52,484.67. The broader NSE Nifty advanced 42.20 points or 0.27 per cent up at 15,722.20. Tech Mahindra, Dr Reddy's and HDFC were the laggards.

Asian Paints was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising over 1 percent, followed by PowerGrid, L&T, TCS, Reliance Industries, HCL Tech and ITC. On the other hand, ICICI Bank, M&M, HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank and Infosys were among the laggards.

Sensex fell down by 400 points. Nifty also suffered loss as it stands below 14,800. Among sectoral indices, banks, metals, financial services, and auto suffered loss, while gains were seen in Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma.
