While addressing a meeting to review the progress of the 'Namami Gange' project in Lucknow, CM Yogi Adityanath asked officials to work with the resolve to clean up river Ganga before the start of Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. 

The dissolved oxygen level of River Ganga, which is a parameter to assess the health of the water body, has been found to be within acceptable limits of the bathing criteria.

The auction began on Saturday at the National Gallery of Modern Art and is scheduled to go on till October 3.

Reiterating that the Ganga river would be 70 to 80 per cent clean by March next year, Gadkari said it would almost be completely free of pollution by March 2020.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar asked the agencies to work together on the project to clean the river, saying, "The Prime Minister has given you a goal, take it as a national project".

Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Uma Bharti on Thursday launched the “Namami Gange” project in Haridwar, Uttarakhand - a flagship programme of the Modi government which envisages modernisation of ghats, crematoriums and development of sewage infrastructure, among others.
