Asia Cup 2023, a cricket tournament before the World Cup, will feature six teams competing in the One-Day International (ODI) format. It will be held from August 31 to September 17, and India and Pakistan are expected to be the top contenders. As we look forward to the tournament, let's reflect on some remarkable records set by Asian cricket legends. While new records will be made and old ones broken in the future, there are a few records that might remain unbroken in the history of the Asia Cup. Here are five such records to admire:
alt
Nasir Jamshed was already banned for 10 years in August by an anti-corruption tribunal for his part in the spot-fixing scandal that engulfed the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2017.
alt
The Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday charged former Test opener Nasir Jamshed with multiple breaches of its Anti-corruption Code of Conduct and gave him 14 days to respond to the charges.
alt
Announcing the decision, the PCB said Jamshed had played a central role in the spot-fixing scandal and that the board`s Anti-Corruption Tribunal had found the batsman guilty of breaching its code of conduct in the spot-fixing scandal.
alt
Reportedly, about eight WhatsApp voice notes were allegedly exchanged between Jamshed and Khalid Latif - another Pakistan batsman who is facing charges of corruption.
alt

alt
Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan and Shahzaib Hasan are the other four players. Left-arm pacer Irfan has already been banned for 12-months after admitting to not reporting approaches made to him by spot-fixers in the past.
alt
Khalid Latif, another accused in the spot-fixing scandal, did not manage to make an appearance at the hearing citing health reasons. He has now been asked to appear before the tribunal on March 31.
alt
Despite the losses of Sharjeel and Irfan, another regular in the limited overs` sides, Arthur was upbeat about the team`s chances on the upcoming West Indies tour.
alt
Besides Shahzaib, two other Pakistan batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have also decided to contest the charges laid out against them by the Board and the PCB has already formed a three-member tribunal to hear their cases.
alt
Shahzaib has been charged with violations of Code Articles 2.1.4, 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 and now has 14 days to respond to the Notice of Charge
alt
The left-hander was also suspected of spot-fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League two years back but managed to escape without any punishment and went on to make his last appearance for Pakistan in the 2015 World Cup
alt
Shaharyar Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, said former Lahore high court judge Asghar Haider would head the inquiry.
alt
