The govt monetised the assets worth Rs 33,422 crore under NMP. The coal sector raises Rs 17,000 crore against the target of Rs 30,000 crore. The Civil Aviation ministry raised Rs 411 crore against the target of Rs 7,299.

Banerjee alleged money generated from selling these assets will be used by the ruling BJP during elections against opposition parties. "The BJP should be ashamed. No one has given them the right to sell our nation's assets," the West Bengal CM said. The government plans to monetise assets by involving private companies across infrastructure sectors.

“First they sold faith and now #IndiaOnSale," tweeted Rahul Gandhi. Earlier, Gandhi called National Monetisation Pipeline a "huge tragedy". The government plans to monetise assets over a four-year period, from Financial Year 2022 to Financial Year 2025.

Projects have been identified across sectors, with roads, railways and power being the top segments.  

National Monetization Pipeline talks about brownfield assets where investment is already being made. The ownership of assets will remain with the government, said Sitharaman.

The National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) comprises a four-year pipeline of the Central Government's brownfield infrastructure assets. 

The government views asset monetisation as a strategy for the augmentation and maintenance of infrastructure. The NMP book will be released in the presence of NITI Aayog's top officials. An asset monetisation dashboard will also be created for tracking the progress.
