Earlier, there was a lot of uproar in the Parliament when the report of the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha was presented. TMC was demanding that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla give at least 48 hours to study the report on Moitra. It was also demanded that Mahua Moitra should be allowed to speak in the House on the report. However, the Speaker took the decision saying that Mahua's conduct was unethical.

Businessman Darshan Hiranandani has alleged that the MP later gave him her parliament login and password for him to post the questions directly Moitra has refuted the cash-for-query allegations, but she admitted to giving her parliamentary login ID to Hiranandani Several leaders of the opposition, including Bahujan Samaj Party MP Danish Ali and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury have opposed the report

Mahua Moitra has also demanded from the committee that the businessman Hiranandani should be cross-examined.

Nishikant Dubey has earlier lodged a complaint with the Lok Sabha Speaker over the issue. The Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha is already looking into the allegations against Moitra. 

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has urged the Lok Sabha Speaker to establish an inquiry against Moitra and called for her suspension from the House pending the investigation.

Dubey has claimed that a Supreme Court lawyer had levelled allegations of bribe exchanges between TMC MP Mahua Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
