The NSCN (IM) has demanded direct involvement of PM Narenda Modi in the talks to resolve the festering insurgency in the north-eastern state. The NSCN (IM) has also insisted that the negotiations be held in a "third country". In a letter to PM Modi written on February 25, but kept secret so far, Thuingaleng Muivah, the general secretary of the group and chief Naga negotiator in the talks with the government, also spoke about the framework agreement (FA) signed in 2015 and its proposal that the state should be allowed to have a Constitution and national flag. In the letter released to the media on Monday, the outfit said it was making public the letter for "lack of response" from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Atleast six NSCN (IM) cadres were killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Khonsa area of Arunachal Pradesh early on Saturday (July 11, 2020) morning. 

The Indian Army has been receiving intelligence inputs since the last few days regarding the movement and activities of NSCN (IM) cadres in the district.

On August 4, 2015, the Centre had inked a historic peace accord with Naga militant group NSCN(IM).

In a press release issued yesterday, the Manipur Police has also refuted the allegation levelled by the outfit that the police personnel were behind the attack.

The pro-talks outfit questioned the motive behind the Centre's move to fence the border.

Though the blasts took place before Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh's visit, he is still going to visit the Ukhrul.

District Judge Amar Nath gave the relief to NSCN (IM) leader Shimray after NIA did not oppose his bail application.
