According to the release, both Oracle and Walmart will take part in a TikTok Global pre-IPO financing round in which they can take up to a 20 per cent cumulative stake in the company. "As part of this proposal, Oracle will become our trusted technology provider, responsible for hosting all US user data and securing associated computer systems to ensure US national security requirements are fully satisfied. We are currently working with Walmart on a commercial partnership as well," TikTok said in its statement.

Trump said the new TikTok company will be totally controlled by Oracle and Walmart. Offering support to the deal Trump said that it would create 25,000 US jobs. He said there would be a $5 billion US education fund as part of the deal.

The move would represent a strategic departure for Oracle, which caters mostly to corporate customers and generates the bulk of its sales from cloud offerings and software licensing. Oracle shares were trading up 3.4% on the news on Tuesday morning, giving the company a market capitalization of $171 billion.
