With a violin bow fixed to her prosthetic arm, Manami Ito's short but breathtaking performance at the Tokyo Paralympics opening ceremony was the product of many years of determination.

The prestigious award is given for the spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson over a period of four years.

The athlete from a hamlet in Salem district, said his aim now was to perform well in next year's Asian Para Games and the Commonwealth Games. 

Paralympian Deepa Malik recently was awarded the Dr Batra's 'Positive Health Heroes' title and it was given to her by Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha. The silver medallist took to Twitter and shared her happiness over getting the award and meeting Sona baby.

Before Paralympics, Devendra Jhajharia trained from April-July in Kuortane, Finland, where he became friends with Kenyan thrower Julius Yego, whom he calls one of his biggest motivators.
