The UPPCL had sent a proposal for slab changes in electricity rates to increase the price of electricity.

The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) has hiked the power tariff by an average of 9.48 percent for 2017-18 fiscal year.

Rationalisation of the coal freight tariff by railways will have minimal impact on power tariff and the move would gradually lead to domestic fuel replacing imported coal, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday.  

Power tariff is likely to increase by 8-10 percent in the country after Coal India decided to hike the commodity's prices, Tata Power CEO and Managing Director Anil Sardana has said.

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has hiked the power tariff in Delhi by upto six percent effective from Monday.
