It is the first time that the latest technologies tested during earlier lower-level polls--a three-day voting period and a remote vote--will be used during the presidential elections.

Presidential poll 2022: The polling to elect the 15th President of India peacefully concluded in Parliament House and state legislative assemblies. The voting began at 10 am and went on till 5 pm. NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu has a clear edge over Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.
"The election to the post of president of India this time is taking place under extraordinary circumstances. The country is facing multiple problems on various fronts but the most important problem that we are facing is the problem of safeguarding and protecting our Constitution," the 84-year-old said.
Nearly 4,800 elected MPs and MLAs will vote on July 18 to elect the 15th President of India.
